Lukla Flight has been rerouted from Kathmandu airport to Manthali Airport of Ramechap from April 01 to July 30, 2019. A formal statement of Nepal Airlines have been circulated to the travelers. The date and time of flight will remain same but you have to take a drive from kathmandu to Ramechap. The flight to lukla will take place from Manthali airport and return to the same route and back to kathmandu.
Manthali is the Headquarter of Ramechap district is located in the bank of Tamakoshi River Valley at an altitude of 474 m and 132 km from Kathmandu. It takes about 5 hours drive to get Manthali from Kathmandu and 30 min flight from Manthali will take you to World Highest Airport In Everest Region the Lukla Airport.Manthali is a small town and visitors are rare.but various facilities like food and accommodation are easily available. During peak season of April to May trekkers may not find accommodation in Manthali.
This changes in Lukla flight is made due to run way setting and maintenance in Tribhuvan International Airport TIA Kathmandu. So, all the plane for Lukla Flight in Everest Region is diverted from Kathmandu Airport to Ramechap Manthali Airport.Lukla Airport is popular for its altitude from where people start to climb Mount Everest Base Camp. The flight from lukla and kathmandu is normally during day light hours and in good weather condition. Though flight distance is short and rain is common the flight is taken whiled the sun is shinning brightly. Clouds cover, high winds and changing visibility can make flight delayed.Lukla Airport contain chain link fence and patrolled by armed police force, and civil police for 24 hours. After, completing manintance in Tribhuvan International Airport the flight will be usual from Kathmandu Airport after August 2019.
